Bergmann

Bergmann is back!

A couple of years on from his visit to the UK under the auspices of the UK Marketing Assistance Programme*, run by Europartnerships, Jürgen Bergmann is back.

Germany’s foremost creator of fantastic play concepts in natural or recycled materials was in the UK in 2004, when major visitor attractions such as the Eden Project and the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh got excited about his unique designs.  But first off the mark to build an amazing new playground could be none other than the UK Forestry Commission!

The Commission’s Sherwood Pines Country Park near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire is undergoing a facelift which will make it one of the top attractions in the area.  It recently introduced a treetop adventure gangway which is proving to be a magnet for older kids with an adventurous streak, and they are confident of getting funding to build a series of play areas linked by the theme of woodland life.

Sherwood Pines has already commissioned a set of models for the play schemes which were recently presented to the Forestry team by Bergmann’s Marketing Manager Andy Jahnke, accompanied by Europartnerships’ Hilary Green.

“We are aiming to make Sherwood Pines an exciting and accessible place to come and spend the day”,  said Head Forester Chris Bray.   “What we like about  Bergmann’s designs is the way they integrate with and reflect their environment”.  Which perhaps is not so surprising, as Jürgen is himself a forester by profession.

The proposed playschemes will enable children to play cooperatively and imaginatively and create roles - which will no doubt include being Robin Hood and his Merry Men!

Europartnerships wishes the Forestry Commission and KH Bergmann a fruitful partnership and visitors to Sherwood Pines lots of fun!
